The previous discourses on China thrive on false juxtapositions: socialism vs. capitalism or democracy vs. authoritarianism. The first volume of the series Left China Discourses is dedicated to central points of orientation of the inner-Chinese socialism debate and is intended to question these dichotomies.

With the rise of China, fundamental political and economic questions have been recalled: on the form, shape and vision of a dynamic and prosperous socialism, on political participation, freedom and democracy. In the debates about this, Chinese authors have hardly had a say so far.

That's different in this book.

The authors contribute to a better understanding of economic developments, decision-making options and problem solving from Chinese logic, history and development processes, including the resulting tensions in the country. Her contributions come from the bimonthly Beijing Cultural Review for humanities and social sciences, one of the most important organs of the Chinese socialism debate. Among other things, socialism 3.0, new class politics, and finally the question of how to understand the Chinese way will be discussed.

The LinkerChinaDiskurs (Left China Discourses) are intended to contribute to understanding economic developments, decision-making options and problem solutions from Chinese logic, history and development processes, including the resulting tensions in the country. The authors (scholars from the People's Republic itself) understand the assessments of China's rise, development and vision of the future as part of a left-wing search process.
